     Lovech is beautiful Bulgarian town, disposed on the north foothills of Stara Planina (Old Mountain). The climate is temperate continental with four nice seasons, with sufficient rainfall, which gives good conditions for development of agriculture. The town is clean and full with greenery. The abundance of lilacs has given the sobriquet of Lovech - "Town of lilacs"
     The town is deeply connected with the history of Bulgaria. It was the most important fortification on the Bulgarian lands after Tarnovo, in the reign of Asenovtsi dynasty. In years of Turkish yoke town was one of the centers of Bulgarian economic and cultural life. Vasil Levski - most prominent Bulgarian revolutionary use the town as main base in Bulgaria.
     Today Lovech is important economic and industrial center. The present population of the town is about 50 000 people. It is very attractive to people interested in history and archeology. Local museum hosts finds from very interesting archeological objects - Perperikon and Tatul.
