Appetite for Bulgarian Arable Land Up by 50%

     Deals with arable land in Bulgaria bumped up by 50% in 2006, experts said.
     The dynamics on this market has reached its pinnacle after significant increase in the last two years. The land market information system maintained by the Agriculture Ministry recorded sales of about 900,000 dca, up by 50% compared to 600,000 dca in 2005.
     Eighteen to twenty percent of those transactions were concluded with foreign citizens or registered companies. For the last few years, there has been a dynamic and an aggressive improvement of the real estate market in Bulgaria.
     In general, demand for real estate properties has increased by 20% in 2006 year-on-year basis, which has also pumped up the bargaining and final prices.
     Bulgaria's EU membership and the projected subsidies towards agriculture are among the main factors contributing to the upped interest towards arable land.
