Bourgas: a new zone plan will turn industrial land into residential areas
propertywisebulgaria.com, 2007-12-08
A chunk of Bourgas's industrial land is set to be allocated to residential plots as part of a major project to change the zoning plan of the city, according to Petko Yovchev, chairman of Chamber of the Architects in Bulgaria, quoted by BTA. Currently, there is a considerable stock of industrial plots in Bourgas (60 per cent), he added. The plan for the city's re-design and makeover will be ready next year, Yovchev noted. His project won the tender and he signed a contract with the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works at the end of November. A panel of 30 specialists will be involved in the plan's development, which will try to reinstate Bourgas's appeal as a tourist centre and coastal attraction.
Architects will seek a new city centre, because the designated one has exhausted its growth and development potential. They will conduct an opinion poll at the beginning of next year, targeted at people aged between 25 and 40, who would be encouraged to share their views on Bourgas' development.
The panel will also analyse development "restrictions" such as archaeological findings, the oil plant, the airport, the petrol base and protected territories.
