Bulgaria Gets Additional 70km Highways by 2006 End
Sofia News Agency, 2006-05-03
A total of 70km additional highways will be constructed in Bulgaria by the end of 2006. The executive director of "Roads Agency" Veselin Georgiev told local Darik radio that by the end of the next year more than 1,000 km roads will be repaired.
A major part of the busiest roads and road sections will be repaired ahead of the launch of the tourism season, Georgiev also explained. By the end of 2006 the Road Agency will complete the projects for the major part of the roads so that it could apply for EU financing in 2007.
The Agency also plans to be ready with the papers for the concession granting of the "Struma", "Maritsa" and "Cherno More" highways.
The Roads Agency needs some BGN 285 M to overcome the destructive aftermath of 2005 and 2006 floods.
