Bulgaria presents tourism destinations to Russian Journalists

     The State Agency for Tourism (SAT) organised a trip around Bulgaria for Russian journalists as part of the Cabinet's programme for advertising the country abroad as a tourism destination.
     The Russian media participating in the project included ITAR-TASS, RATA news, Moskovskie Novosti and Pravda newspapers, City FM Radio and specialised tourism magazines, Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) reported.
     During the tour starting July 17 the journalists would attend presentations on Bulgaria's sea tourism and on the opportunities for development of cultural, historical, spa and wine tourism in the country.
     Coastal towns and resorts Varna, Golden Sands, Albena, Nessebar and Sunny Beach are among the destinations included in the tour. Cultural tourism destinations included Varna Archaeological Museum and the remains of the Tsarevets citadel in Bulgaria's old capital Veliko Turnovo.
     The journalists will also meet SAT head Mario Al-Djebouri to discuss ways of advertising Bulgaria in Russia. In 2005 the number of Russian tourists to Bulgaria registered a 17.39 per cent increase. The tendency continued in 2006 with 25 per cent growth over the first six months of the year compared to the same period in 2005, BNR said.
