
Foreign visitors to Bulgaria in 2007 record a 30 per cent annual increase

Bulgaria is still a favourite destination for German, British and Russian tourists. It's also experiencing a steady growth in tourists from neighbouring countries, such as Romania and Greece, where visas are not required. The number of foreign visitors to Bulgaria during 2007 will reach 6 million by the end of the year, marking a 30 per cent year on year increase.The forecast was made by Blagoy Ragin, head of the Bulgarian hotel and restaurant association, speaking in Chepelare.

The number of tourists from neighbouring Macedonia and Serbia, however, is decreasing. Ragin noted that Bulgaria is failing to cash in on tourism from these countries due to the sluggish visa system.
