Powers of Attorney and Wills to be Entered into Online Registers

     The increasing of the security of property deals is the main reason for the higher notary fees. The new information system of the Notary Chamber is expected to be ready in October. Part of it includes the setting up of online registers of the wills and powers of attorneys for disposing of the properties, the chair of the Chamber Dimitar Tanev announced.
     Since March 2009 notaries started entering the data as the process is expected to finish within seven months. The system will include the powers of attorney issued after March 1st 2008 (it was then that the changes in the Civil Proceedings Code were made allowing the notaries to keep copies) as well as all existing data for wills in the notary’s official documentation.
     The Bulgarian Will Register will be connected to the European Network of Registers of Wills.
