Fondly called the Master by his fellow artists and the public in general, the late Vladimir Dimitrov is considered to be one of the most impressive figures in contemporary Bulgarian art. The general recognition of his work stems above all from the deep folk character of his paintings, which carry on the century-old tradition of Bulgarian art and also betray the influence of the pictorial achievements of Post-impressionistic painting in Western Europe.
     For nearly ten years (1910 - 1920), Vladimir Dimitrov followed the prevailing traditional realistic trends, but then he turned a new leaf and evolved an original style of his own. The first portraits of his mature period show a predilection for psychological insight into the model, depicting enduring moods and states, which determines to a great extent the plastic treatment of the image.

     Kyustendil is one of the leading health resorts in Bulgaria and abroad.
